Here at McKenzie Heating we aren't just considering your internal living environment but we're also concerned about the health of the population and the impact of our boilers on the global environment.

 A healthy home is a warm home but how we achieve this can be a concern.  Fine particles (particulates) in the air we breath has a major impact on our health.  Some of the most common health effects include irritation of your eyes, throat and lungs.  For people with existing respiratory conditions, such as asthma or bronchitis, breathing in particles can make the conditions worse.  Particles can also reduce your capacity to resist infection.

Poorly functioning and outdated solid fuel appliances are a major source of particulates in the air and the subject of increased focus of health authorities as well as local bodies.

All McKenzie boilers function at emission levels below the limits set by the New Zealand Ministry for the Environment and meet the levels required by local bodies.

Certain regions have been identified as being of specific concern, due mainly to local atmospheric conditions, and permitted levels of emission are expected to be tightened.  Just as our councils seek to improve our air quality we at McKenzie Heating are committed to ongoing design improvements to further lower our impact on the environment.

Carbon dioxide is a recognized "green house" gas and nearly all forms of combustion release this gas. Wood Pellets have been classed "carbon neutral" because their constituent chemicals are part of the "live" carbon cycle.

Fossil fuels are viewed differently!

This carbon has been locked in subterranean deposits for millions of years and by releasing this we affect the balance of the current carbon cycle.

McKenzie Heating's aim is to reduce the carbon released from fossil origin.

Solid fuel thermal power stations have efficiencies ranging from 38 to 48%, add to that the accepted national grid and distribution losses for electricity and the true efficiency of electric power from these sources drops to below 40%!  McKenzie Coal boilers generate heat at the point of use at more than twice this efficiency giving you the consumer much more useable energy for the fuel used.
